I am laughing my butt off right now…
Yes, the “rabbit hole”. Been there, done that…
If I’m being completely honest, I kinda live in the Rabbit Hole. (see pics)
My $5K ’95 Reinell / Merc I/O was leaving a sheen in the water on my fishing trips. In California 95% of our inland fishing is done on Water District waters with (usually) no water contact allowed. So, not wanting to get a ticket or red tagged off the lakes, I pulled the foot and planned a reseal only. Yolk shaft had a bad seal. 5 months later I’m just getting ready to wrap it up. Ended up in a deep hole, new gearsets, all new seals, $$ on tools I didn’t have but needed to shim up the gears, etc. And yes, I fully admit, other than a little time and a seal 100% unnecessary if I’m telling the truth.
Another week or two and the paint will be hard enough to put back together and put back on the boat.
Boredom and retirement have sent me to this (fun) hell. Kidding of course, I’m having a blast. Just need to learn when to quit.
Gonna take your advice and go simpler. I think I’ll make up a sign for my garage. KISS!
Keep It Simple Stupid – Quit while you’re ahead…
Thanks again – Just the lighter side of my disease (if ‘this’ is good, then ‘that’ will be even better)…
Sorry about the sideways pic, can’t figure out how to delete it so I can add an edited one…
