What I’ve been doing is using the basic 90w gear lube on motors that are “in the process”….a few tripe to the lake to get various issues sorted out and just to evaluate the overall condition of a motor.
If it passes all the tests and has a tight gearcase (or accepts a re-seal successfully….) then I’ll do a final fill with the marine stuff. Walmart also sells a marine version at a good price…. Not usually available in the store….you have to order it on line and the last time I did that there was a $35.00 minimum for free shipping to my house. So; I add a few things to reach that.
