    Ed, it sounds like it has the potential to be a good runner!
    I’m guessing it was running a little “rich”.
    Do tear into the water pump, but I also suggest having
    the motor sit down further in the water, and if it was angled “back”
    like sitting on the transom of a boat, it would be better all around.
    If you’re going to make “outboards” a hobby, you’re going to
    need a better test tank anyway.
