    An AC adaptor like this might work for a Mercotronic or a standalone coil tester using a circuit similar to the Mercotronic as it is rated at 7.5 volts 6 amp output. Would have to adapt the connector on the end and the price does not include the cord that plugs into the wall outlet.  Just another option that may be suitable if portability during testing is not a necessity.
