yes, they do differ.
In my haste to get it back together, I did not dry fit it first.
I just put the long and short side by side and they "appeared" to match.
So I had the key slot cut.
not knowing the bottom splines were 1/8" too short.
anyways, it is fixed now . . . just as per factory specs.
