It’s been a few years since I worked on my 300’s but if I remember correctly, they have an insulated screw on the mag plate which makes contact with ground when the speed control leaver is moved all the way to the left. It might have a flat or bell shaped washer on it which makes the contact, not sure.
Near the end of the parts manual is the mag diagram showing this insulated screw assembly.
