    Looking at the rear of the motor #1 is top right side( starboard) #3 below it. Look close at your distributor cap, the plug wire numbers are there, #1 wire is closest to the small primary terminal, 2 – 3- 4 around in a counter CW direction.  Firing order 1, 2,3, 4. If you are buying parts for the mag, be careful to get the correct rotor. The rotor for the mag will interchange with the 12V distributor rotor, but they are not the same, the blade on the Mag rotor is wider and off-set a bit from centerline. You will see the “caution” in your shop manual.
