Regarding the hole in your gear case nose. I assume your Model J
is different than my Elto Model C ruddertwin.
I don’t believe mine has a pointed nose cone that goes in the gearcase,
but rather a threaded plug for the prop shaft end-play adjustment,
held in place by a cotter key.
