    Thank you for mentioning the Evapo-Rust, It did free up the brass rod in the center. The brass rod now swivels and goes up and down. Apparently it gets its air around the brass rod on this model, I can push the rod up and down through the cap. I suspect that back in 1926 they tried different ways of venting on these motors until they found something that worked good.
