hondahtc, that looks like a real nice motor you have. I’m sure that you will find most helpful info on this site. The guys here know their motors. A thanks to Mas for posting the great video.
Like was said, often the coil is toast, melted down from high heat. A couple of theories on this…. running the motor with the lower shrouds may cause overheating because of mis-directed air flow from the fan. the other idea is long idle ??? maybe insufficient cooling air? In any case , if you find a bad coil the John Deere pony motor coil retrofit works good.
