I didn’t find any good candidates to replace the old prop shaft seal.
The old “shot” one is a deep affair that had a rib on the OD in the
center, that located the seal in a groove in the housing bore.
What came out almost seemed like plastic, but perhaps petrified rubber.
I made up a heavy leather seal with a thin washer and a snap ring
to lock it in place. At least better than what was in there.
