Just a couple thoughts on your question. I have a 14hp Evinrude 1952 a little down the assembly line from the one you are looking at. It is a decent outboard, Peter Hunn in his Old Outboard Book calls it the “not so fast fastwin”! It’s claim to fame is that it is the first Evinrude that has a forward reverse gear case. A very similar gear case that came on the QD Johnsons about that same time. My Evinrude is an original in nice condition, it pushes my 14′ tinie about 20mph. I also have a QD 14 10hp Johnson, it pushes my tinie about 20mph. If you are looking for more power the ’53 fastwin 15hp is way better outboard. I love’em all from that era of time.
