    If you have an engine hoist, I would just go ahead and take the engine off the boat. Sometimes we end up making more work for ourselves by trying to save a step. I believe strongly that this is one of those times. If you do, just make sure to re-coat the engine mounting bolts with a liberal amount of 3M 4200 marine sealant. I do not suggest silicone, unless you want a rotten transom.
