That spring goes around the float pin and between the float pin flanges. If memory serves me correctly smaller Chryslers used this float setup. It’s hard for me to explain how the spring fits in but I believe it puts pressure on the float to keep the needle from sticking closed. Every time I do one of these carbs this spring is the thing that takes me the most time to reinstall because it’s not a normal system. Someone else probably can explain it much better than me.
