It is a Scott-McCulloch. Very good runners.
Frank, I was digging a little further and still haven’t determined the exact year of my Elgin.
And while it sure looks like something Scott made, the data on Discount Marine is pointing toward
it being West Bend made, Not Scott McCulloch.
McCulloch did not appear to made a 3.5 hp in the year range my motor is likely to be.
In some years, Sears sold Elgin’s sold by both manufacturers.
My Elgin definitely has a 3.5 hp on the decal.
Interesting that the Discount Marine data does not show that West Bend
sold any 3.5 or 3.6 hp engines under their own moniker in the years in question.
I’m surprised they were still using wobbler water pump rotors circa 1960.
