I have a couple of Evinrude Zepher 4004’s that I used to run back in the early
70’s with limited success. When they were running good, they were really
smooth. Most days though, I’d carry one down the hill to the lake,
attach to the boat, and it wouldn’t start!
Both are on my "list" of outboards to fix up. Glad to hear they’re
not too overwhelming to work on. I remember that the plastic
rotory throttle valve in the carb broke on one, and my
Uncle had a new aluminum one machined where he worked at Whirlpool.
Anyone have a list of modern parts numbers for the Zephers,
ie, rings, bearings, seals, etc, that fit these outboards?
Prepare to be boarded!
