Thanks frankr and everyone. Your right , the cam closes the butterfly at idle , spring opens it up. Since mine has the twist grip throttle raising the handle does nothing. Where as the 52 model does idle down when handle is raised. The throttle is a lever on 52 and back. This is a super clean 53 with low hours. Hopefully got the carb right because I really want to use this one. Think it’s a low hour motor. Took the lower off today and the 6 screws holding the skeg have never been off. Still paint on them. Gearset was immaculate. Just going to replace all the seals and get it back together. Maybe I’ll have a warm day in January I can give it a test run. Thanks!
