    IIRC, that coil needs an external condenser. It is not a direct replacement for the Ruddertwin / Speedster / Quad coils. The condenser may have been mounted on the outside of the timer case, or directly on the coil. Without a condenser it will likely give a good spark one or two times, but the points will eventually suffer.
