The 40 has a 2-piece tank and those holes should be filled with 10-24 fillister headed bolts. Perhaps now would be a good time to disassemble the fuel tank and reseal it???
The 40 is a sweet motor, very smooth and quiet. I think you’ll enjoy it once it’s all back together again.
