I would not use a three jaw puller. Not sure why you are worried about bending the mag plate unless you are thinking of pulling the plate along with the flywheel? That’s a big no no. Stay with the 3 screw puller. Find hardened bolts (not screws) to screw into the flywheel. Cinch them down even and level. Then tighten down the center bolt of the puller. Then tap on the top of the center bolt with a light hammer. Vibration is important. I have also used heat with a torch around the hub of the flywheel a few times and never ruined the coils. But rarely ever needed to use heat. Just keep tapping on that center bolt and tighten it again occasionally.
