OK guys, here is what I believe to be true, at risk of being made into a monkey. I believe all the 35-40 hp motors with dual water tubes used the same pump housing. Confusion comes with what was included, All came with a seal, but not all included the cap. The cap got changes in the late 1960’s due to different water inlets, but the pump housing itself stayed the same.

    Crunching some part numbers—–

1959–377533 housing, no cap or seal–superseded by 378348 with cap & seal.

1961–378354 housing with seal, but no cap–superseded by 381576

1965–378593 housing with seal, but no cap–superseded by 381576

1968–381576 housing with seal, but no cap

Not fully sure, but the change to 381576 MIGHT have due to enlarged hole for the electric shift wire to pass through

    That’s my story.
