Hugh, here is link to the Southern Ontario Row Boat chapter web page. Follow the right side of the webpage going about half way down. They have RB articles volumes 1, 2, 3 and 5 listed for viewing. RBM volume 2 and mag 1 has really good buzz coil explanations and good original magneto information.

When you see the magneto for the first time, there will be a black pitch covering the coil and a portion of the wires. Try not to disturb that. If you are lucky, your coil maybe still good. SORB chapter guys are very helpful.
