Andy. Thanks for the story and the great ride in the video! I have a number of Fastwins and 18 Johnsons. I run them on my Alumacraft Model R with a high speed prop at 30 MPH. Great fun! I am currently rebuilding a Fastwin Powerhead for a nice low hour Fastwin that I found a couple years ago. Cowl was loaded with squirrel’s nests. Cleaned it out and saw a broken ring in the top cylinder visible through the exhaust manifold and not surprised by low compression in that cylinder (110 psi). Started, shifts and pumps water great but poor idle. So I am rebuilding the powerhead with good parts from another powerhead that has a broken hole in the crankcase.
Garry. I still have the KR shown in the photo above. I haven’t seen that photo in a long time. Jay Walls has the other KR that he was planning to put his push pull gearcase on. i am hoping to hear what happened with that project. I understand that you moved back up here to Michigan not far from me. I am on the North end of Long Lake just west of Traverse City.
