Bad news. The coil was indeed bad. I even tried taking it apart hoping it was a broken wire at the edge but no luck and let’s be honest those wires are really fine. I just saw the post about taking apart the laminations and fitting an aftermarket new coil. This may be a possibility but I have never swapped to electronic ignition and this might be a good case to learn on. Does anybody know if there is any module that would fit or even if it is possible to take something like a Briggs module and slide it off the laminations and re-install on the johnson laminations like we do with seloc coils?.

    thanks
