Another Maine river run to consider: The Penobscot River. A couple of years ago, a group of us put in at Bucksport and went up river to Bangor, tied up at the city docks and enjoyed a nice lunch at the Sea Dog Brew pub. Great stretch of winding river. Deep and clean. There’s a Civil War era fort right on the river across from Bucksport., well worth the tour. https://www.fortknoxmaine.com/history-of-the-fort .
