Well I’ve done that now (cleaned out the fuel tank) and still no start. So there is nothing blocking fuel precarby.
.
I also cleaned out the carby with carburettor cleaner and reassembled – no I didn’t have a carby kit.
As per this page: https://outboard-boat-motor-repair.com/Evinrude%203%20HP%20Lightwin%20Outboard%20Boat%20Motor/Evinrude%20Johnson%203%20HP%201952-1967%20Carburetor%20Tune-UP.htm
When the fuel is turned on, should fuel rush into the carby? Doesn’t seem to happen this way for me which makes me wonder if somehow the carby still has a blockage (I know the tank is clean and the tap/valve is not blocked)?
Checked sparks and have them on both plugs.Could the order of the plugs be out? What is the best way to be sure each lead is on correct plug? Could the spark be of inadequate strength and will one of these tell me if it is so? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Tool-AZ-Ignition-Diagnostic-Adjustable-Spark-Plug-Tester-Wire-Circuit-Coil/283667078200?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3D24864db496fe47bfb2063e807026e3b6%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D30%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D362706144982%26itm%3D283667078200%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2386202%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWeb&_trksid=p2386202.c100677.m4598
