I haven’t opened the gear case yet. Glad to see I won’t need to buy any bearings.
Unlike the Merc KD4 I just worked on, this prop shaft feels nice. From outside
appearances, the gear case was well lubricated, and worked it’s way up to
the water pump! Hopefully that’s all a sign that the gears will be in decent shape.
Going to take the day off from the shop to go snowmobiling with my son,
and have him help shovel off my roof when we get back, but who knows,
I may get out to the garage before dark falls again……. inquiring minds
want to know what’s inside that gear case! …… just wish mine was already
as clean as yours in the photo. Thanks!
