    I would agree the pins are in upside down. The clips need to come out, then the pins should be pressed out. You can use that hammer in the photo, but the pistons MUST be supported so there is no load on the rods. Much better to use a piston pin tool which goes around the piston and presses the pin out slowly. Then you can get to the con rod bolts.
