An Evinrude or Johnson 1957 35hp bracket will work, but what a waste of the rare special Johnson bracket. 1958 J/E Non-Super Sea Horse / Non-Lark will also work. 40hp brackets are different. Flywheels before 1957 won’t have the belt cog. And the ’57 cogs were famous for falling off. Pre-1957 motors were 6V (non-generator compatible).
