    Check to see that the electronic replacement can handle the amperage required to fire a stubborn coil.

    I have two old Stevens testers that used vibrator tubes. Both were dead. I opened them up, cleaned the points, put in some desiccant, and sealed them back up. Both have been fine for a couple of years now.
