Back in the day we used a 6 or 7.5 volt Hot Shot dry cell battery. it was used in a lot of alarm systems. Steve woods has made a “D” cell container from PVC pipe that takes four or five alkaline batteries. Replacement batteries are available every where. Of coarse the lithium is more expensive, but if you run a lot it will save you in the long run being rechargable. . .
