I am going to try out those little snap swivels like those used on fishing leaders or single ones used to attached fishing hook leaders and rapala/trolling lures

Sized properly, they can wrap around the post in the small slot to lock down the points set.

I frequently use miniature snap swivels instead of cotter pins to lock in carb linkages (choke)

keeps me from chasing tiny cotter pins

I just snip off the rotating end and keep the locking part
