If memory serves me correctly, that Champion could be the type with a metal water pump impeller with 2 water lines, one for intake and one for discharge in order to siphon water thru the engine. They work well on a moving boat but may not run cool in a tank. It’s been a number of years since I worked on one. Also, it is a closed system, there is no tell-tale to see if it’s pumping water and any attempt to add one will compromise the water flow.
